funny article i would like to share....

Presidentially Preposterous
The Dash understands why Sooner Nation (2) lost its collective mind after the officiating fiasco at the end of the Oregon game, which was won by the Ducks 34-33. The non-call on the onside kick stunk. The inept review of the call was worse. The Pac-10's one-game suspension of the offending officials was completely justified.

But the Oklahoma reaction has become an overreaction. In fact, it has transitioned from righteous indignation to outright insanity.

David Boren

Oklahoma president David Boren called for the OU-Oregon game to be eliminated from the record books.

The actions of school president David Boren (3) make you wonder whether he isn't actually the booster club president instead of the guy running an institution of higher learning. The former governor and U.S. senator pushed out his pouty lip and dashed off a petulant letter to Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg (4) that is embarrassing on multiple levels. "… The Big 12 should request that the game should not go into the record books as a win or a loss by either team in light of the level of officiating mistakes," Boren's letter said.

And strike the Kansas City Royals' 1985 World Series title from the record books because of that terrible call at first base by Don Denkinger, too!

"It is truly sad and deeply disappointing that members of our football team should be deprived of the outcome of the game that they deserved because of an inexcusable breakdown in officiating," Boren concluded.

What's truly sad and deeply disappointing to The Dash is the fact that Boren should have such an inexcusable breakdown in perspective.

Is there really nothing better for the president to do at the University of Oklahoma? Like, maybe check in on the college of arts and sciences? Or, if he's that terribly concerned about the football program, perhaps he could lend a hand to the compliance office and help monitor players' jobs at local car dealerships. Y'know, make sure they actually show up and do some work.

If the president can put down his pompon for a minute, he'll realize a couple of things:

Malcolm Kelly (4) and Oregon's Brian Paysinger (19)

The officals' decisions surrounding an onside kick in the OU-Oregon riled up Sooner Nation.

1. Bad calls happen. In every game. A few times a year, they can play a critical role in a game's outcome. Are we going to set a precedent of presidential hissy fits after each critical blown call?

2. The game did not end on this bad call. Oklahoma still had the lead, still had a chance to win. It didn't get the job done.

But instead of absorbing this as an object lesson -- life is not fair, but you have to deal with it -- the school president is setting the sore-loser tone.

Coach Bob Stoops (5) went off shortly after Boren, all but declaring the officials and the Pac-10 unforgiven for the damage done to Oklahoma's season. (Bob: You can still win the Big 12 title and go to a BCS bowl. And you weren't going to win anybody's national championship anyway. You might have sustained the illusion for another few weeks by winning this game, but it wasn't going to happen.)

When asked about Boren's letter, Stoops thanked the prez for taking time away from reviewing game film to join in the bitchfest.

"We have a great administration," Stoops said. "President Boren is the absolute best president a head coach can have."

Clearly. The question is whether he's the best president a math professor can have.

Then again, maybe Boren is simply following presidential precedent at Oklahoma. It was OU prez George Cross who once explained to the state legislature a need for more funding because, "I would like to build a university which the football team can be proud of."

In closing, The Dash will take the obnoxious step of quoting itself, just to help the honorable president Boren. This was from an August column enumerating 23 new rules of conduct for college football fans:

If the scoreboard says you lost, you lost. That's not going to change. Take an hour to vent postgame, then try to regain your sanity. Do not diminish your quality of life -- and the quality of life of those around you -- by spewing for days about the refs who cheated your team, the flagrant league bias against your team or the complete lack of class displayed by the team that beat your team. Your team l-o-s-t. Try to deal.

Well it's been a long time...Not much going on. Teaching is going great. I am ready for the summer though! I can't wait to hang out with my cool teacher friends in OKC and Denver! And then take the whole month of July to just do nothing but hang out at the pool or lake. It will be nice to actually not work at all over the summer!! My class has caterpillars and we are getting tadpoles tomorrow.  It's going to be fun! I got the new Rascal Flatts cd. It is awesome!! I really don't have much to say but have a good week!

So I am in shock after watching Eddie Sutton's news conference. You know he made a mistake and its something that many many people have done including one of my family members (well not the car wreck but drinking and driving).  So with that being said I still like well love Eddie Sutton. He has been a wonderful coach and he was lots of fun to watch!

In other news, Monday night I was Queen of Sales at my Mary Kay meeting. That was pretty cool. I am hoping to start making more money. I think I can do it. Plus I got to see a friend I haven't seen well since our college graduation I think. I'm really excited right now b/c  I bought a new pair of shoes that I have wanted since like October but they were like $90 and they were on sale today for $15. So awesome! Valentine's Day was lots of fun. I got a million boxes of candy well really 15 but thats alot. One of my students told me not to eat it all that night b/c I would be chubby the next day. Kids say the funniest things. Well that's it for now. Have a good weekend.

So The Bachelor last night was gooood! Hate to say it but yes I am addicted to this season. I am hoping the teacher will win! She is cute and ya she's a teacher. He got rid of that dumb blonde girl that got on my nerves. I am so tired. Long day today. And I have to go to a Mary Kay meeting tonight.  I'm not that excited.  But I need some more tips b/c I am in desperate need of some money. Teachers pay is crap. I am having a party at my school on Thursday though. So maybe that will be good. If anyone wants a party call me!! Help me out!! I decided I need to lose a little weight and start tanning so I can be good and tan and looking good for Megan's wedding. Which isn't until June but I should start now. Well thats all for now folks.

So I guess it is time to post just for my little Leana. Things have been crazy busy. We finally got a little settled into our new house. I like it alot. Had a good time last weekend hangin out with friends for Evan's b-day. I miss those guys. I got my hair done. Totally different. First it started with getting it done at Hair for You in Glenpool. Ya not gonna do that again. Dont ever go to Rachel there. She is awful. Basically she cut my hair like a mullet b/c I wanted layers and so she cut the top layer and a few more but it was way awful.   Then the color was terrible. It had spots on the top! So I had to get my hair cut again by my mom's friend at Super Cuts and then she colored it too. It is fried now. But it looks alright. It has a lot more dark brown in it now which is a little different. But it will fade. School is going good. The little rugrats are acting alright this week. I am looking up activities for our 100th day celebration. That should be fun.  I am trying really hard to be a good teacher. Sometimes I don't think that I'm a good teacher but sometimes I do good things. But it is only my first year and I am still learning things. One of my little kiddos went home sick today with a 104.5 temp!! And that wasn't accurate b/c she opened her mouth so it was higher!!  Bless her heart. I hope they took her to the doctor. So now I'm afraid of getting sick b/c I catch just about anything. So I sprayed my room down with Lysol after school. Maybe that worked.  I'm not sure what I am going to do next year. I kind of want to go to a Union school that is closer to my house. There you don't have to do SRA and Target Teach crap that TPS makes us do. But I like most of my co-workers and I like the principal. So I am not sure what to do yet. Well have a great week and maybe I will post again soon.
